Aloha. The Lord be with you. We are Good Shepherd Honolulu. Good Shepherd Church has been serving Jesus in the Liliha neighborhood and beyond for over 50 years. We are a unique and special group of followers of Jesus Christ. We are just ordinary people who follow a good shepherd – Jesus. We are joined together in Christ as a congregation of the Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod. We are evangelical, sacramental and Spirit-led in our approach to doing life together. As a family, our church, preschool, and ministries are compelled by the love of Christ to share His mercy and the Good News about life with Jesus. Together, we simply join with Jesus to redeem and renew the world. Together, we share God’s grace with all children, young and old. We are ready to help you find life under the Son. With Jesus. Simply joining with Jesus.

Good Shepherd Staff

Bob Mabry | Pastor

Bob has been in local church ministry most of his life. He began in ministry working with youth and worship leading in Spirit-led Lutheran churches primarily. Bob and his wife live in the neighborhood of Liliha in Honolulu and are committed to joining Jesus in his mission there. He grows his own coffee and he surfs when he can.

M.A. in Theology from Fuller Theological Seminary and an MDiv. from the American Lutheran Theological Seminary. Certified as a Spiritual Director with Sustainable Faith.

Sandy Fujii | Office Administrator

Sandy coordinates community between Good Shepherd Church, Preschool and the neighborhood. Making new friends and gardening are among her life passions. She dreams of traveling to far lands in the future.

Tara Mabry | Children’s Ministry Director

Tara, for the past 10 years has worked in a classroom setting with ASD students teaching positive behavior. She also has many years of experience in local churches working with kids. “It’s my joy to be with the little ones. If the kids have fun and feel the love of Jesus, then we have had a good day.” In her spare time she likes to read and spend time in the ocean.

Karen Fujii | Children’s Ministry Director

Karen has been in Christian education for over 30 years. Her greatest joy as a Christian teacher is to share Jesus’ love with her students and their families.

We invite you to join us for our Sunday morning service!

What to expect:

Dress is casual. Our worship service is a mix of contemporary songs and hymns, liturgical elements of confession and absolution, creeds of the Church, Scripture readings, a message based on the Scriptures, and communion twice a month. Prayer teams are available at the altar during worship if you have any needs. You will find a hospitable group of people who love the Lord and love to sit and talk story -usually with a light lunch served- after the worship service.
